Colour Blocking Spring!

Hello Belles!!

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful, yet slightly confused, weather! The sun has been very deceitful! You would think that it was T-shirt weather the way it shines so brightly! But by the time you step outside the cold wind knocks you sideways!
Either way, I am thankful! As the appearance of Mr Sun and no more Ms Snow means that Spring is officially here! Yay! So its now time to bring out your floral print and pastel shades... BUT .... instead of the usual predictable soft colours of Spring why not inject a splodge of COLOUR into your wardrobe by throwing together a few Colour Block-er-rific outfits!

Yes I know colour blocking was so "last season", but mi ner ker!! I will rock it anyways and start a revolution!! Are you with me!! .........

*silence*
*that one awkward cough, from that one person who just couldn't hold it in*

em... well... I guess I should just go ahead and proceed with this post! Lol!

I rocked both of the outfits below to church, utilising the same bright raspberry coloured blazer to pull together two very different looks.
Berries & Blues

The 'sun' is in my eyes!

Blazer from local market, skirt from Miss Selfridge, shoes & top from Primark

Raspberry and Yellow

Berry and Yellow! Berry and Yellow!

Shoes from TK Maxx, Top from H&M, Skirt from Peacocks

Colour Blocking - Cheat Sheet!

To discover colours which you can mix and match to create the perfect 'colour blocked' outfit take a look at the colour wheel below. The trick is to choose the shades which are directly opposite each other on the colour wheel, this will help to create a beautifully colour blocked outfit without the awkward "did she dress in the dark" side eyes.

Some Extra Quirky Tricks

Marc Jacobs suggests:

For a harmonious look mix bright pinks with vivid fuchsias, turquoise with royal blue and keep warmer tones like orange and red together. Accessorise with neutral - toned shoes.
To really MIX IT UP  work regal purples in with contrasting, firey oranges or lime green with rosebud pink.

Phew! You made it to the end! Have I made a colour block revolutionary out of you? I hope so!

Until the next post, have an amazing week!

Much Love

Accessory Inspiration: Collar Tips - what's that on your collar?

Hey yall! Hope you are all good?!

Check out these beautiful collar tips rocked by Blessing O a truly fabulous fashionista!

They add an 'old western glam' to a shirt, top or dress - anything which has a collar and for £4.99 (New Look), they are an inexpensive way to upcycle that old shirt!

Inspired by Blessing's collar tips I have found a few other styles which are now on my wish list... after all my birthday IS coming soon :)

Regal Rose have these beautiful vintage gold collar tips on sale for £10!

Missguided steps it up a notch with these Klue Bird Collar Tips.

Collar tips are an inexpensive investment that adds a bit of bling to an outfit!

On another note, I have just returned from a church Youth Camp in Kidderminster which was an amazing time spent with God away from the hustle and bustle of life. Whilst there
I spotted a number of gorgeous outfits rocked by the young ladies in attendance, so hopefully I will be able to get a few photos up of some of the outfits to provide yall with some spring/summer modest fashion ideas!

In the meantime, God bless!

Guacamole Quickie!

Hell--loo!

Recently I have been having a strange craving for guacamole, i'm not the biggest fan of the green stuff, but for some reason I really wanted to try my hand at making a batch.

The recipe I found (below) is pretty straight forward and I was able to whip up a batch in less than 15mins. I adjusted the portion sizes as I only wanted to make a batch, also I didn't have any coriander or chillies to hand so I just used the dried pepper (the African red pepper, i only used a sprinkle as that stuff is HOT!) instead.

  • Ingredients

    4 mild chillies finely chopped
    Bunch coriander finely chopped
    tomatoes, finely chopped
    salt, to taste
    onion, finely chopped
    ½ lime, juice only
    3 ripe avocados

    Preparation Method

    1. In a pestle and mortar, pound the chillies, coriander, tomatoes, salt and onion to a fine paste.
     2. Add a little water and lime juice to make a looser mixture. Mash in the avocados. Serve.

And VOILA!!!! Served with a few Sainsbury's basic nachos (i'm still a student, I have to save those pennies!) it is a perfect healthy snack! :)

SPRING IS HERE!! Well... kind of!! The breeze in London is enough to knock you back to winter brrr!!

I will be posting up some spring outfits soon, so please stay tuned!
